BREAKING NEWS: KING OF ABAOMEGE SON TORTURED TO DEATH BY THE NIGERIAN POLICE IN ONICHA LGA, EBONYI STATE!

Kelechi  Gabriel  Ineke, son of His royal highness  Eze Gabriel  Ineke,
king of Abaomege community

It was a teary easter yesterday in Abaomege community, Onicha  LGA of Ebonyi State as young  and promising  son of the community met his untimely death in the  police custody.  The boy Kelechi  Gabriel  Ineke, son of His royal highness  Eze Gabriel  Ineke, king of Abaomege community  was on Wednesday 28th March 2018 arrested  over a fight with a son of a police officer simply identified  as Umet.

According to the brother of the deceased Prince Nnamdi Ineke, when asked, he said that the young man, that is his brother, was said to have fought with a police man's son of the same age mate. The police son left the scene of the fight only to come back with his father who is a police officer serving in Abaomege to arrest the prince.

The prince believe that his brother was arrested with no option of bail and locked up without any sort of questions or interogations as regards his reason for arrest. In his words according to source  "When we, the family members got there, they said we should go and come back the next day refusing us to see, feed or bail him. The next day they refused us to see, bail or give him food again. Three days of his being in custody he was not allowed to see his siblings or receive food or water from them. We were asked on the fourth day to come the next day with ten thousand naira bailout fee"

According to  available  information ,  other detainees had pre informed  the Prince that all may not be well with his brother as he had spent the whole night groaning  and crying  out  for help which never  came  as the men on duty ignored  both the young Prince and their own call for help. "We called on the police officers on duty to know what is wrong with him and if the young man was having problem but they ignored us and since today we have not heard from him" the inmate said."  The detainees though in a separate cell believe he was tortured and starved to death in the custody with a rope in his neck as if he committed suicide.   Mr Nnamdi told us that on the fifth day he went to the police station to bail him but met him dead.

According to source he said "I went to the police station with the ten thousand naira (10,000) to bail him as requested by the police, the police officers at the counter told me to wait that the DCO is on his way to the station. I waited a while, when he arrived, he went straight to the cell with one of his boys on duty directing me not to come with them. I stood back only for him to walk out quickly, wispered into the ears of the officers at the counter. Before Nnamdi  realise it the DCO entered  his car zoomed  off. His action  made the young man suspicious as he quickly went into the cell where his brother  was detained In isolation only to find him hanging  on the roof  dead with a rope tied to his neck. The rest officer  deserted the station  before  he could come out from the cell. "I quickly rushed out to ask the police officers on duty but they had all disappeared"

On the side of the police, the DCO in charge of the police division was quoted claiming that the young prince committed suicide in the cell.

Recall that  the Prince  was kept in Isolated cell like a common criminal.  The question is, why would he want to commit suicide as the police has alleged ?  Why was he denied  bail even after 96 hours in custody? How did the young  man who was in detention with only boxer on get access to rope? What was a rope doing in a police cell? Could  it be that he was actually tortured to death by the police  as is alledged by the people? These are the questions begging  for answers  and only  the police  can give answers  to them.
The questions begging for answers now are: why was the prince put in a separate cell? What was a rope doing in a police cell? What was happening to him as at the time he was calling for help?

The people of Abaomege as at this moment believe that there is more to these that meets the eye. When we contacted a youth from the community who is known as pastor he said, they did not even fight physically, "it was  just quarrel and threats. The boy went and called his father to arrest the prince"

When we tried to contact the DCO, his numbers were switched off. And the town union president could not be reached also at the time of filing this report

NYSC: Compulsory Items to Take To NYSC Camp

NYSC
Items of primary relevance to successfully complete all the registration processes in camp are listed below. These items are necessary so that you can get all your entitlements including your allowance, medical attention, mattress, bed space, your NYSC kits and the rest.
1. NYSC Call-up Letter (Original and photocopies). This is the most important item as it provides evidence that you are an authentic and prospective corper not impersonating somebody else. Avoid laminating your letter to avoid embarrassment.
2. School Identity Card (original and photocopies). This is also a proof that you were a student of the institute indicated on your certificate.
3. Certificates or Statement of Result (original and photocopies). These include your Certificates for the course you studied, Registration certificates obtained from legal boards such as the Pharmacist boards, Nigerian Medical Council, or Optometrist Registration council along with evidence of completion of horsemanship are necessary items for those in the medical field.
4. Passport photographs. Recent copies are recommended and required for registration. Ensure to print several copies.
5. Certificate of fitness (original and photocopies) from a government approved hospital indicating your recent health status.
6. Bank details. BVN and account details.
List of Essential Items to take to NYSC Camp
These items may not on their own be compulsory, but they are essential to ease the burden of your daily camp schedules and activities, getting into a smooth daily routine and moreover reducing the chances of being commercially exploited with hype-up prices of essential needs sold at camp.
7. Curriculum Vitae . Some Employers come over to camp to advertise jobs or scout for corpers to work for them. A prepared CV comes in handy at this point.
8. File Jackets to neatly hold your original and photocopied documents.
9. Stationery. These are your closest companion to compulsory items needed for registration. They obviously include Pen, jotter, Stapler, staple pins, paper glue, White-out or tipex,
10. Round Neck White T-Shirt . Although these are among the items you would be given as your NYSC kits in camp. However, it is necessary to have extras that can take you for week. At least, not to leave you stranded on a busy schedule with less time to engage in washing or even limited source of water.
11. White shorts. Extras of these are needed since you would be wearing them most times during your orientation.
12. Plain white tennis shoes falls among your frequently used items necessary for those early morning drills.
13. White socks are needed items and are equally necessary as your white t-shirt and short.
14. Underwear that is sufficiently enough for your stay in camp.
15. Provisions for additional food that you probably would not get sufficiently in your daily ration. Buying provisions prior to arriving at camp would help save cost and minimise commercial exploitation. You would definitely include cereals, chocolate beverages, milk, Garri etc.
16. Toiletries. These include tooth brush, toilet paper, toothpaste, bathing soap, sponge, body cream, disinfectant, sanitary towel and light make-up accessories, ( for ladies), pegs, few cloth hangers, Detergents, antiseptic such as Dettol, bathing soap, small face mirror, towel and comb.
17. Treated Mosquito net. One aspect you probably don’t wish for is to fall ill in camp. Malaria is very prevalent in most area of the country and the dormitory you reside may not be entirely mosquito proof. Therefore, it is necessary to have a treated mosquito net in your list of essentials.
18. Money. Cash is very necessary to have in camp. Avoid having excess than you may require. The temptation to blow away your resources on irrelevant items comes so strongly with the excitement of this new phase of life.
19. Waist Pouch . This is a very necessary companion to have around the camp while you engage in various activities.
20. Flashlight would always be your friend in the dark.
21. Phone Charger . This is an item you may probably overlook while all your effort is concentrated on packing other daily necessities. You may like to go along with the next item on the list.
22. Phone Battery . You probably wouldn’t like to stay out of touch with friends and families in a new environment because of a run-down battery and frequent power outages.
23. Padlocks. You will need small and strong padlocks for your travel bags on other security concerns.
24. Bucket. Buckets would be needed for bathing and washing clothes.
25. Dish washing agent would also be necessary for washing your food flask, drinking flask, cup, and spoon.
26. Rubber slippers for indoor dormitory wear and engaging in activities that wet your feet.
27. Bedding . These include bed items such as your bed sheets, pillow cases, Pillow, Wrapper or Blanket.
28. Hand sanitizer . You would need this item for hygiene purpose and to reduce your chances of getting infections. Most infections are introduced to the body through unclean hands.
29. Medical kit. Remember, chances of falling ill increases during your stay in camp because your body is introduced to various elements it’s not used too. Therefore, it is better to be forearmed with the necessary food supplements or multivitamins, pain relievers, methylated spirit, plasters, cotton wool, Robb, inhaler (for those with asthma) prescription tablets for malaria, anti-purging pills and other necessities that would help you cope.
30. Dish set would include food flask, spoon only, a drinking flask or cup.
31. Job interview preparatory tools to fill your free time in camp. It is cheaper to get one off-camp. Job preparatory tools would include books such as GMATs or other motivational books to help you prepare for job interviews. This is especially necessary if you have an eye for corporate and non-governmental organisations.

NYSC: WHAT'S NEXT MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITY TO UNDERTAKE AFTER NYSC CAMPING AND BEFORE GOING BACK HOME?

NYSC
Step 1: *Report to your Place of Primary Assignment(PPA)*

The first thing to do immediately after leaving orientation camp is to report at your place of primary assignment. If peradventure, your PPA is far from your orientation camp, go to the community for the night and settle down and the following morning, go to your PPA.
What you will be taking to your PPA is the posting letter that was given to you on camp after the passing out parade (camp POP) on the last day of the camp. The essence of taking your letter to your PPA is to determine whether they will accept or reject you.
The posting letter is a letter addressed to your employer, and a detachable form is underneath.
Advise: make a photocopy of your posting letter before submitting.
At your PPA, the person in charge of corps member will either accept or reject you.
In the detachable form, the PPA will either write YES or NO and stamp it.
For example, if your PPA is a school, the principal of the school will stamp the detachable part of the form and write YES/NO in the acceptance Column.
If he write YES, that means you can continue your steps further, but if he rejects you, read on how to take a new posting letter when you are rejected

Step 2: *Submit your letter of acceptance to your Zonal Office or Local Inspector office as the case maybe:* once you are accepted in your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), the form will be detached and you will be given the end part of the form and your PPA will keep the other part, you take the part given to you to the Zonal Office and submit.  Depending on how far your PPA is to the Zonal Office, if it is very far, a local inspector will be attached to your area who will collect the form from you and record it in a register as you bring your slip.

Step 3: *Open a Bank Account*
Immediately you bring your acceptance letter and you fill the register, the Local Inspector / the person attending to you at the Zonal Office assign you to a bank. Go to the bank immediately with 3 passport photograph and your NYSC ID Card lest I forget. For the next 1 year, you must always carry your ID card along anywhere you are going to. Your ID card will open doors for you (depending on how you utilize it)

Step 4: *Go back to the Zonal office/LI’s office to fill in your bank details*
Do you know why I’ve been patiently listing all this into steps, its because so many corps members are eager to travel back home, so they will just open the bank account and travel home, and will now come back to complain they have not been paid. The reason is because they did not fill the account register before they travel. So‎ once you are through with your account opening, you will be issued a bank account number, endeavor to take this account number back to the Zonal Office and fill in the account register book.
In the account register book, you fill in your account number, bank and your signature. Your signature must be the same as the specimen you gave while on camp.

Step 5: *Enjoy your 2 weeks leave (depending on you PPA)*
Once you have finished steps 1-4 and you are sure, you can now travel, go for a training, read book for the next two weeks depending on your PPA.  If your PPA is a school, most times they are either already on holiday period or about to start. So enjoy the holiday with them. But if your PPA is a private firm, ministry and other parastatals, your leave will be dictated by them, so please adhere to it.

I hope you have found this article helpful. Please share to your corper friends as it will help some people to reduce their stress of  settling down after camp.

In summary, the steps to take are
1.    Report to your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA)
2.    Submit your letter of acceptance to your Zonal Office or Local Inspector office as the case maybe
3.    Open a bank account
4.    Fill in your bank account number in the account register at the Zonal Office/Local Inspector
5.  Enjoy your 2 weeks leave (depending on you PPA).
